Lime plaster

Lime plasters have captured the imagination of humans for thousands of years. The durability, availability and waterproof property of lime had made it an essential element of the construction practices. Every culture has their own interpretation and expression of lime plasters that are developed in the context of their regions. Art, culture, religion, politics have all played a major role in the development of hundreds if not thousands of kinds of lime plasters. At Earthy Yours, we recognize that each technique and each interpretation of lime is unique to a region. Studying these techniques helps us engineer the materials of our own region to make countless kinds of different plasters.

Lime finishing plasters are typically applied in thin coats of 2 to 3 mm on a rough base plaster (or other substrates) and can create vast seamless and continuous surfaces. Lime finishing plasters can be rendered in many ways : so smooth that they become reflective or as rough as a field stone. Patterns can be etched or stamped, combed or sculpted. As with most artisanal finishes, the possibilities are limitless.
